Letter to the Editor
Editor,
Some additional information in response to a recent letter about blue box recycling in Meaford:
a. The Municipality of Meaford’s Blue Bin film plastic is definitely baled and sent to a company in the States for recycling.
b. When one ties off the clear plastic bag loaded with film plastic, use the bag ends themselves for the tying.
c. There is no recycling market at this time for Styrofoam. The large packaging Styrofoam can still be put in a clear plastic bag and placed out with your garbage on your scheduled garbage day. No bag tag will be required for this clear bag, however the bag will part of the three-bag limit for garbage.
d. The faster we move to a circular economy the better for all of us.
Across the world cities are shifting production and consumption habits to circular economies, where products and materials are kept at their highest utility and value at all times. We all stand to benefit by incorporating the circular economy, and we can work together to make it happen.
