Thoughts on Taxation

Letter to the Editor

Editor,

I see that Mr. Miller wants input to his “round table” on the new tax regulations.

Here is mine, and I hope that he gets some participants at the table who are pensioners, working poor, salaried employees, students, farm and factory and retail and food service workers etc. The vast majority of these people can’t benefit from tax loopholes through income sprinkling, converting income to capital gains, or dividends from the family business. etc.

If a person has enough money to worry about how they can shelter it to pay less taxes then they do not share the worries of the vast majority of Canadians.

Their big noise about having to pay taxes like the rest of average Canadians are just cries and whining. I could care less.

The taxes that are needed to support infrastructure, defence, energy, security, education, health care and so on should be born equitably by all Canadians.

I am quite okay with tax fairness. It’s time for the special interests to ante up, just like everyone else.
