Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
Yet again I am reading about more misfortune for the Meaford Cemetery swans.
When I moved to Meaford four years ago I remember reading that one died.
Another time I read a letter from a resident telling of the atrocious inadequate care the swans were receiving throughout the winter. I think these swans were sent to sanctuary.
Now the two swans have gone missing.
What saddens me is that I read the cemetery says they are going to replace them in the spring.
How many swans have been replaced up to this point and some people might like to know who is paying for these new swans. The municipality?
I believe it is blatantly obvious the cemetery is not a suitable or humane home for the swans and I would hope enough people would stand behind the decision to not replace them once again!
The beautiful Meaford Cemetery does not need the presence of swans to be a lovely tranquil oasis.
Regards,
S.L. Hawley, Meaford
