Three days of glorious curling signalled the start of the 2016/17 season with the Meaford Curling Club’s Opening Bonspiel.
As always, there was lots of keen competition and some surprises, however there always have to be winners and this year the winner of the ‘A’ Division was the team led by Olive Richardson. Her vice was David Blackburn, at second was Bryan Collins with Dave Hobson at lead.
Interestingly, in all three games they stole their way to victory one point at a time, and with the final game tied in the seventh end they stole once again.
Their opponents, the Tim Johns team, also had an interesting story. They were tied in every game at the seventh and won the first two, but lost to the Richardson team. The ‘B’ Division was won by Murray Dougherty who had Rae Best at lead, Jim David at second and Shirley Case was his vice.
“Now it’s onward and upward to more exciting games as the season progresses,” said the club.
