Staff

opp logo270On October 14, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an intoxicated male who had fallen off his Electric Powered Bike (E-Bike) on the Georgian Trail between Christie Beach Road and the 3rd Line in the Municipality of Meaford.

Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) and the Meaford Fire Department attended the scene to assist. The male appeared to be unresponsive lying next to the E-Bike with a bottle of alcohol in his hand. Upon assessing him for possible injuries, he became belligerent and uttered threats at the first responders. Once medically cleared, police arrested the male for impaired care and control of a vehicle and transported him to the Meaford OPP Detachment for breath tests, which he refused to do despite being warned as to the consequences.

The 64 year-old Blue Mountains man was charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and refusing to provide a breath sample.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on November 10.
