Meaford Hall Arts & Cultural Centre is presenting a series of social nights and speakers this fall and winter, funded by the New Horizons for Seniors (federal) program.
In offering this new, free programming Meaford Hall hopes to give residents and visitors alike the opportunity to learn something new, meet friends old and new, and have fun.
Friday Night Socials are hosted bi-weekly from 7:30 to 9p.m., and feature music and entertainment by Jim Dunham. Hosted in the Galleries at Meaford Hall, bring your family and friends for weekly themes and prizes, fun competitions, singalongs, card games and more.
October 7 is Club and Churches Night where the best attendance by any organization wins a prize. October 21 is a Gong Show! Preregister to perform your special talent: musical or otherwise. November 4 features Birthday Party Night – it’s everyone’s birthday tonight so come and celebrate birthdays (extra special if it’s your month!). On November 18 it’s time to Dance, Dance, Dance to a variety of music including contemporary, ethnic, polka, and more! The Speaker Series runs on Wednesdays beginning at 1 p.m., winter through spring. October 12 features a talk about ‘Wealth management for seniors’ with Scott Kocher of TD Wealth. On October 26 join local historian Marjorie Davison for ‘Memories of a one-room schoolhouse’. November 9 features authors Mary Solomon and Rachel Oliver as they discuss their book Caregiving: Practical advice from the trenches. A Survivor’s and Caregiver’s Point of View. And local favorite Robert Burcher returns November 23 with ‘John Muir & Louis Riel’. More speakers to be announced in early winter.
