What an amazing start to the day! We are so honoured to receive a donation from the Meaford Apple Harvest Craft Show of $25,000 toward the construction of Chapman House,” the RHGB noted on their Facebook page. “Our community and region are made better by the generosity and thoughtfulness of organizations, service clubs and all others that invest in services like ours. The donation by the Meaford Apple Harvest Craft Show will go a long way toward helping us meet our fundraising target, and make a big difference in end-of-life care in our community.”

According to their website, “The Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce offers an alternative for residents of Grey and Bruce Counties who do not wish to die at home or in the hospital. The community-run hospice cares for patients and their families who are dealing with a terminal illness, providing comfort, support and pain management. Patients are able to die with dignity, in a home-like setting.”

The fundraising goal for the Chapman House project, which began construction earlier this year, is $4 million. As of the beginning of September, the organization had raised nearly $2.5 million, with roughly four months remaining in the fundraising campaign.

Meaford’s Apple Harvest Craft Show has become one of the largest craft shows in the province. Each year the show, which is held in the Meaford arena, draws nearly 200 artisans and crafters, along with thousands of arts and craft lovers.

This year’s Apple Harvest Craft Show will be held On Saturday, October 1, and Sunday, October 2 at the Meaford & St. Vincent Community Centre beginning at 10:00 each morning. Admission is $5 for adults, and $1 for those under the age of 12.
