Mischief to Community Mailbox

Staff

opp logo270On February 27, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a damaged community mailbox located at the corner of Legion Road and Owen Street, in the Municipality of Meaford.

Sometime overnight someone had tampered with the locks on the mailbox, exposing three drawers. It is unknown what, if anything, was taken. Canada Post was notified and secured the mailbox. At that time, police received information that other community mailboxes in the area, and into Thornbury, had been entered as well.

Anyone with information which may assist police is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at www.crimestoppersgb.ca, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.

Residents are urged to report any suspicious person(s), vehicles or activity right away. To learn more on how to protect yourself and your property, visit www.opp.ca.
