Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
Many years ago a clever caring person started collecting pop tabs to trade for wheelchairs across the country. Response was that it was silly and fraudulent from small minds who tried to stop it, but caring people stepped up and collected tabs from coast to coast from pop, beer cans, and zip-top cans.
I was at The Georgian Bay Café last night and saw a sign updated to show the latest numbers. The Legion has now supported 2,175 wheelchairs given freely to those in need – including some needing special modifications. They have been given out across the country including many right here in Meaford.
Please let your readers know that the collection and happiness goes on. Tabs can be dropped off at the Meaford Bowling Lanes and Georgian Bay Café and they will hold them for pick-up.
It is so little effort for so much happiness.
Thank you,
Roberta Docherty, Meaford
