I am no expert on how we manage grants, but if this story accurately portrays the issue (and I suspect it does) then I am baffled as well.
$2,500 is well spent to ensure that our grant money (raised from taxes) is spent wisely, and to prevent it being used to grease political gears and special interests.
I urge council to revisit the issue and remove the temptation, the distractions, the useless energy spent from politicians’ and municipal administration’s hands.
This issue is the dark place where corruption hides!
