2025 Scarecrow Invasion Theme: It’s All About the Scarecrows!

The Scarecrow Invasion is back, and guess what? This year, organizers are throwing the rule-book out the barn window, and there’s no official theme. Why? Because scarecrows are the theme. And really, aren’t they the stars of the show every year anyway?

The scarecrow invasion kicks off just after Labour Day, with these quirky characters hanging around town until the end of October, weather permitting, and all leading up to the always-anticipated Parade and Festival on Friday, October 3.

This year, we’re embracing a fresh approach—no official invasion theme! That means more freedom, more creativity, and more fun. The possibilities are endless when the only rule is to celebrate our beloved scarecrows. Plus, the parade will still have its own themed twist, so keep your eyes peeled for that exciting reveal!” said organizers. “Forgoing an overall theme this year means we can save on costume and prop costs—freeing up resources to make the event even more exciting and memorable in new ways! Of course, we’d love to hear what you think. Send an email to info@scarecrowinvasion.com.”

The first scarecrow building workshops are fast approaching. No experience needed. It’s fun, it’s creative, and everyone’s welcome.

Workshop Dates:

  • Tuesday, June 10, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 12, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 17, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 19, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Location: Meaford Rotary Harbour Pavilion

Thanks to a revamped process introduced last year by Decorating Chair Cindy Rees, you can now complete an entire scarecrow in just one session. Whether you’re into funky fashion, silly faces, or classic country style—it’s your scarecrow, your rules.

Organizers are also on the lookout for new volunteers to join their organizing team. Love crafts? Great at planning? Just want to hang out with cool folks and some slightly spooky straw people? Reach out to Christine at cpompeo@scarecrowinvasion.com. Their next meeting is May 15, at 5:30 p.m. at the Meaford Public Library.

Don’t forget to check out www.scarecrowinvasion.ca and follow them on Facebook and Instagram for all the latest updates, event details, and sneak peeks of what’s in store.

The scarecrows are fluffing their straw, stretching their limbs, and getting ready to take over Meaford once again. No theme? No problem. This year, we’re going back to basics—and having more fun than ever,” said organizers.
