Editor,
Where do Candidates in the Provincial Election stand regarding the controversial TCE Pumped Storage Project that threatens Georgian Bay waters?
It appears that NO ONE wants to talk about it, perhaps because it is located on Federal Land – a move made by the Trans Canada Energy Corporation to escape from having to perform an Environmental Assessment under the Laws of Ontario. Yet, this project has the potential to contaminate the waters of Georgian Bay, the source of Meaford’s drinking water and create noise pollution 24/7 that will impact local residents. I am amazed how quiet this has been kept during this Election campaign – is it another of Premier Ford’s dark secrets that his Environment Minister has chosen to ignore? Even if the Project is on Federal Land, it does impact Georgian Bay Waters stretching from Meaford to Collingwood, and that is where Premier Ford has jurisdiction to protect that body of water, which his Government has failed to do to this date!
Sincerely,
Louis M. Bernard, P.Eng., M.Eng., B.Eng., Meaford
