Number of Meaford Employees on Sunshine List Doubles to Six

mfd ops ctrIn 2010 the Municipality of Meaford saw its first employee listing on the annual “Sunshine List” issued by the province. Former CAO Frank Miele had earned $118,000 in 2009 earning him a spot on the list of public sector employees who earn more than $100,000 per year. The 2015 list released by the province today (March 27) now includes six Meaford employees who earned more than $100,000 in 2014.

Cemetery Swans Won't be Replaced

swans225The swans that went missing from Meaford's Lakeview Cemetery in November will not be replaced according to Director of Community and Cultural Services, Dan Buttineau.

Buttineau told council at their March 23 meeting that since the swans went missing, many residents have suggested that the municipality should not be caring for swans at the cemetery, and municipal staff agree.

Meaford Continues to be a Provincial Leader in Waste Diversion

waste collectionThe Municipality of Meaford continues to be a leader in the province for waste diversion. Director of Operations, Stephen Vokes, informed council at their March 23 meeting that the municipality has “clawed its way back” into the top three on Waste Diversion Ontario's annual ranking of municipal waste diversion programs.

Meaford to Create New Coat of Arms

mfd ops ctrMeaford's council is hoping that a revamp of the municipal Coat of Arms will send a strong signal that the municipality is serious about the inclusion and unity of all parts of the municipality.

At their March 9 meeting, council approved a plan to create a Coat of Arms, that will see a community working group chart their way through the process.
