Impaired Boater Charged

OPPLogoOn Thursday, August 16 at approximately 8:25 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an impaired boater at the Meaford Boat Launch on St. Vincent Street in the Municipality of Meaford.

Two males were observed attempting to dock a 16 foot Prince Craft Fiesta vessel.  One of the males fell overboard but managed to get to shore.  The second male remained in the boat.  When the boat began drifting away, the operator attempted to paddle back to shore.

Meaford Man Faces Assault With Weapon Charge

On Saturday, August 10 at approximately 4:40 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an assault on Grey Rd. 12 in the Municipality of Meaford.

An altercation between two motorists, who are known to each other, resulted in one man striking the other with a hammer.  The 18 year old victim was transported to the Meaford Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

Intoxicated Woman Charged

OPPLogoGrey County OPP received a report of an intoxicated woman yelling from a residential porch on Friday evening (August 9). Officers attended the residence on Sykes Street North in Meaford, and arrested the woman for public intoxication.

The 52 year old Meaford woman was taken to the Meaford OPP Detachment and held until she was sober. The woman was issued a Provincial Offence Notice under the Liquor Licence Act.
