Break-in at the Meaford Factory Outlet

On Saturday, December 27, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break, enter and theft from the Meaford Factory Outlet located on Cook Street, in the Municipality of Meaford.

Sometime between 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, and 9:00 a.m. on December 27, an unknown male forcibly gained entrance into the business and breached the safe inside the office.  Approximately $4,000 cash was stolen.

Unusual Donation at Local Charity

OPPLogoGrey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was advised of an unusual item that had been donated to a thrift store in the Municipality of Meaford on Saturday morning, December 13.

A bolt action rifle, incapable of being fired, was donated to the Cat’s Meow, a business located on Sykes Street North, Meaford.  The store typically accepts donations of all kinds for resale; proceeds of which go towards supporting humane treatment of cats.

Driver Fails to Remain After Hitting Parked SUV

On Tuesday, December 16, at approximately 9:52 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a fail to remain motor vehicle collision in the Municipality of Meaford.

Sometime between noon and 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, the victim’s car, a 2013 Ford SPE sport utility vehicle, was struck by another vehicle while parked in the lot of 24 Albery Court in Meaford.

Gas Bar Employee Charged With Theft

After an ongoing theft investigation at a Meaford gas station, Grey County OPP arrested a man on Wednesday, December 10, and charged him with theft over $5,000.

The owner of Alex’s Gas Bar located on Sykes Street South in the Municipality of Meaford contacted police after he had noticed shortages in cash from the time the man was hired, in January 2014, and those shortages continued until October.  Police say the accumulated theft was in excess of $7500.
