Police to be Vigilant About Distracted Driving This Labour Day Weekend

talking oncell phoneThe final weekend of summer is upon us and OPP officers will be out on the roads and looking for distracted drivers.  So far this year, 41 deaths have been attributed to distracted driving on OPP-patrolled roads and the number of collisions caused by distracted drivers is up twenty percent compared to this time last year.

Municipal Vehicle Stolen, Recovered on Resident's Property

On Sunday, August 23, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a resident reporting that a pick-up truck belonging to the Municipality of Meaford appeared to have been abandoned on his property on Pearson Street in Meaford.  The investigation revealed that the truck, a red 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, bearing the Municipality of Meaford crests on the doors and containing a 200 gallon water tank in the box of the truck, had been reported stolen to Grey County OPP earlier in the day.

Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate two, day time residential break-ins in the Municipality of Meaford, and they are asking residents to keep windows and doors to their homes and their vehicles secured at all times.
