There were plenty of smiles shared in Meaford last week, as the annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign raised $2,299.00 for the Meaford Hospital Foundation.
For one week, Tim Hortons Guests had the opportunity to purchase chocolate chunk Smile Cookies for $1, with all proceeds from the sales supporting the local community. The Restaurant Owners proudly handed over the donation to the Meaford Hospital Foundation on Thursday October 9, 2014 at the local Meaford Tim Hortons restaurant.
“This year’s campaign was a major success yet again and we have our loyal guests to thank for all of their wonderful generosity, “said Cheryl and Jim Fewster, Tim Hortons Restaurant Owner. “We look forward to the Smile Cookie campaign every year because all of the proceeds go directly to the Meaford Hospital Foundation, a local hospital. Meaford has once again come together to show its community spirit, helping to raise much needed funds for the Meaford Hospital Foundation.”
One hundred per cent of the proceeds raised from sales of the Smile Cookies this year will help the Hospital Campaign.
“Thank you to everyone who purchased a Smile Cookie at Tim Hortons, you truly showed the power of a community coming together to support a great cause,” said Sheila Savage, Meaford Hospital Foundation Director. “All donations will support the Hospital Campaign.”
What began as a way to fundraise for the Hamilton Children's Hospital in Ontario in 1996, has grown into a major fundraising event across North America. In 2013, the Smile Cookie campaign raised $5 million across Canada and the United States. Nationally, Tim Hortons Restaurant Owners support more than 500 local charities through the campaign.
