GBSS Students Walk For Mental Health

As part of Mental Health Week (May 5-9) observations, students at Meaford's Georgian Bay Secondary School (GBSS) attended an assembly on May 5,  focused on an online therapy service established in the memory of Wes Cameron, a Walkerton youth who ended his own life in 2011 at the age of 16.

A retrospective exhibit of works by the late Meaford artists, Chuck and Margot Finley, will open at Meaford Hall with an evening reception on June 5th, 2014 and will run for two months until July 30th.

Are You Protected Against Pertussis and Measles?

needleTwo confirmed cases of pertussis (whooping cough) at West Hill Secondary School remind us of the importance of immunizations and keeping immunizations current. Immunization provides the best protection against pertussis and measles as well as many other infectious diseases. 


In Ontario, children are routinely immunized against whooping cough in a combination vaccine at two, four, six and 18 months and again at 4-6 years. A booster dose is routinely given at 14-16 years. A single lifetime dose is available for adults 19 to 64 years if they did not receive a booster dose at 14-16 years. This lifetime dose replaces one of the tetanus/diphtheria booster doses given every 10 years.
