Conrad Black in Meaford Next Month

risetogreatOn Tuesday, November 25, the Meaford Public Library will host acclaimed historian and writer when Conrad Black comes to town for an exclusive fundraising event where Black will discuss his new book, Rise to Greatness – The History of Canada from the Vikings to the Present.

Each $45 ticket for this fundraising event includes an autographed copy of Rise to Greatness, which will be published by McClelland and Stewart on November 11, 2014.

Monday Night Book Club Reviews – Road Ends, By Mary Lawson

road-ends225This is the third of Mary Lawson's novels set in the fictional northern town of Struan. We are talking a northern Ontario, nostril-freezing small town. Not Muskoka, as held by those in the GTA as being ‘up north’.

Small towns are not unfamiliar to Mary Lawson as she was raised in one in southwestern Ontario. She studied Psychology at McGill University and worked for many years as an Industrial Psychologist, mostly in England, and it was not until her 50s that she turned her hand to novel writing.

Grey County Historical Society to Meet in Eugenia

The Grey County Historical Society will meet in Eugenia on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 1:30 pm, to hear about the Eugenia power generating station, which will celebrate its 100 year anniversary in 2015. The guest speaker will be Barbara Pearn, a Eugenia resident who is very knowledgeable about this unique hydro-electric facility.
