Camera Lost In Meaford Area

To The Editor,

I am writing this letter, to send this message to the general public in the areas of Meaford and the Blue Mountains. I lost a digital camera on August 1, 2014 at approximately 8 pm., and I would desperately like to locate it.

The camera, which was in a small Dark Grey/Black camera case, was lost along the 3rd line north of HolmCrest Lane heading to Hwy. 26. It is also possible that the camera was lost along Hwy 26 travelling North into Meaford, and onto Bayfield St., Bridge St., the marina district, and finally south on St. Vincent St. heading out of town on Hwy 26.

Reader Concerned About Cemetery Swans

Dear Sir,

I made my first visit to the Meaford Cemetery recently. I was completely wowed with the upkeep of it everywhere. Such a beautiful surprise but as I was walking around I happened to come upon the Swans. My disappointment overwhelmed me!

They are living and swimming in a swamp filled with green slimy water. The one tiny fountain in the middle is not near enough powerful to move the water to keep it from becoming stagnant. The debris of branches and logs should be cleaned out not just for health reasons to the swans but to beautify what could be a lovely peaceful area that would make visitors want to stop and sit a while.

Money Stolen From Cat Shelter

The Clarksburg Cat Shelter, a registered charity, serves the Clarksburg, Thornbury and Meaford areas, taking in lost, abandoned and abused adult cats. We operate a store on Boucher Street in Meaford, The Cat's Meow, that sells gently used small and larger items to raise money for the Shelter.

We rely on volunteers to run our store and shelter and donations from the public to care for the 60+ cats in our care. At the store, in addition to the money raised through sales, we have a donation box on our counter for the kind people who give their leftover change or bills to support us.

Approximately two weeks ago, our donation box was stolen with money in it.
