“Food For Thought” Breakfast and Lunch Program Coming to GBSS

It will be served from a central island in the cafeteria where all students and staff can access healthy nutritious food.

Bringing a Sense of Wonder to the Classroom With Butterflies


The Monarch Teacher Network recently held a two day workshop in Meaford. Teachers from several Ontario school boards gathered at St Vincent Euphrasia Elementary to learn all about the Monarch Butterfly, a spectacular species at risk pollinator, and how to bring a sense of wonder into their classroom this September.

The Kids Are Heading Back to School, Watch For School Buses

school bus stop sign225The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) remind all drivers that school buses will be back on the road this week.  Drivers need to understand the rules pertaining to passing school buses and the substantial fines for passing buses stopped with signals flashing.

New Vaccinations Added For School in September

needleThree additional vaccines will be required for students attending school this fall. Effective July 1, changes to the Immunization of School Pupils’ Act (ISPA), which outlines immunizations needed by students to attend school, will now include vaccinations for whooping cough, meningococcal disease and chickenpox.

This is in addition to the existing requirements of immunization against tetanus, diphtheria, polio, measles, mumps and rubella.
