Meaford Osteopathy opened its doors and began accepting new patients this month. The clinic is owned and operated by new Meaford resident and Osteopathic Practitioner Rachel Gorman.

A gentle yet effective manual therapy, osteopathy is currently experiencing growing demand across Ontario.

"As both a patient and a therapist, I have experienced the profound benefits of osteopathic care. After working as a seasonal tree planter in my early twenties, I was left in chronic pain as a young woman and spent several years seeking out therapy to help me understand what was happening in my body and to find health. It wasn't until I visited an osteopath that I was able to make real and lasting changes to the discomfort I was feeling,” explained Gorman.

Osteopaths are trained to assess the body and restore muscles, joints, and ligaments to their proper function. Some goals of treatment are to improve the health and well-being of those experiencing postural discomfort, illness, or injury, and to help maintain function in aging patients. Rachel is able to provide a rational approach to treatment that is both corrective and rehabilitative.

Upon completion of four years of education at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, Gorman ran a successful practice in downtown Toronto working alongside registered massage therapists, acupuncturists, and naturopaths. Now, a new mom and recent transplant to Meaford, she is extremely happy to be offering her services to the community.

Treatment is covered by most extended health benefit plans. For more information about whether osteopathy is right for you, or to book an appointment, please visit meafordosteopathy.com or call 519-373-3080.
