On February 1, 2022, after much consideration and with some minor regrets, I managed to convince myself to retire after 42 years serving as a funeral director in the communities of Meaford and the Beaver Valley.
I thank everyone who has expressed congratulations and kind words about this decision and what they hope this next chapter in life might bring to me and my family. I too, look forward to this new career!
Although many might feel that my chosen profession was definitely ‘not for them’, I can assure all that the opportunities to share with families in these communities at some extremely difficult times has been a privilege more rewarding than anyone could imagine. The trust extended by those families has allowed me to realize many sincere and lasting memories and friendships which will be a part of me forever.
I am extremely proud that my daughter Johanna has chosen to accept the challenges of ownership and management of the Ferguson Funeral Home and I am more than confident that she, and her team of excellent directors and support staff, will continue to serve our community with the tremendous compassionate care and sincerity which she has demonstrated since joining the firm in 2007 and supporting me throughout those years.
We do indeed live in one of the best communities one could ever desire to call home and I hope we may continue to expand those wonderful relationships.
