cdnflag270Larry Miller, Member of Parliament for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, is encouraging all eligible organizations to apply for funding through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program and the Canada 150 Fund.

The Canada 150 Fund is a funding program that aims to create opportunities for Canadians to participate in local, regional, and national celebrations that contribute to building a sense of pride and attachment to Canada.

Eligible recipients include:

  • Not-for-profit organizations (including corporations, trusts, cooperative, and unincorporated associations

  • Canadian businesses (including partnerships, trust and joint ventures where projects are non-commercial in nature)

  • Canadian schools; and

  • Municipal governments and their institutions.

The Canada 150 Fund will be accepting applications for projects requesting over $50,000 until June 15.

A call for applications under the Canada 150 Fund for projects requesting less than $50,000 will be issued later this summer.

Furthermore, the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program is open for a second intake of applications until June 24. This program supports upgrades to existing community infrastructure in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

Eligible projects must:

  • Fall under an eligible category and be proposed by an eligible recipient;

  • Be for the renovation, expansion, or improvement of existing community infrastructure assets;

  • Be open for use to the public and not limited to a private membership;

  • Leverage a minimum of 50 percent of funding from other sources (priority given to projects that leverage 66.6 percent or more); and

  • Be substantially completed by March 31st, 2018. All eligibility requirements and other information for the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program can be found here: http://www.feddevontario.gc.ca/eic/site/723.nsf/eng/02204.html#q1.

“Both of these funding programs give different kinds of organizations an opportunity to celebrate Canada’s 150th with local events and festivals or with upgrades to important community infrastructure,” said Miller. “I strongly encourage all eligible recipients to apply for funding through these programs.”
