4-H Calf Club Report – Fixing up the Show Rings

Alex McNally, age 12

In early 2016 the Meaford and St. Vincent 4-H Calf Club received a $500 grant from Farm Credit Canada.

Since the club reconvened in March, club members have been hard at work discussing, organizing, and finalizing plans for projects to improve the beef and dairy show rings at the Meaford and St. Vincent fairgrounds.

Club members decided to spend the grant money on the following betterment projects:

  • Paint the front gates

  • Fix and paint the bleachers at the beef and dairy show rings

  • Purchase two gates for the show ring

  • Make a donation towards the purchase of a new flag pole located at the Meaford Curling Club

Club members have been busy ensuring that these projects are completed prior to achievement day.

The Meaford and St. Vincent 4-H Calf Club achievement day takes place on Saturday, September 3 at 10am at the Meaford and St. Vincent Fall Fair. All community members are invited to attend the 4-H calf show and see all of the hard work that club members have dedicated to their 4-H projects and the updates made to the show rings through the generous grant from Farm Credit Canada.

The Meaford and St. Vincent Calf Club would like to thank Farm Credit Canada for their generous grant and their continued support of the 4-H program. We look forward to seeing you all in September!
